Creamiest Horchata Latte

A sweet, creamy, and spiced Horchata Latte that combines the comforting flavors of traditional horchata with bold coffee. Perfect for cozy mornings or indulgent afternoons.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond milk/oat milk for dairy-free)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 shot espresso or 1/3 cup strong brewed coffee
  • Optional: whipped cream, ground cinnamon, caramel drizzle

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine 1 cup of uncooked rice, 2 cups of water, and a cinnamon stick. Let it sit for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best flavor.
  2. Blend the mixture until smooth, then strain through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a bowl.
  3. Mix in 1 cup of milk, 1/4 cup of sugar, and a splash of vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  4. Brew a shot of espresso or about 1/3 cup of strong coffee.
  5. Pour the horchata into a saucepan and gently heat it over medium-low heat. Do not boil.
  6. Pour the warm horchata into your mug, leaving some room for the coffee. Add the espresso or coffee and stir gently.
  7. Top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or a drizzle of caramel, if desired.

Notes

For a chilled version, serve over ice. Adjust sweetness to taste, and experiment with different types of milk for a dairy-free option. Store leftover horchata in the fridge for up to 5 days.
