iced vanilla chai latte

This easy homemade iced vanilla chai latte blends creamy milk, fragrant chai spices, and smooth vanilla over ice for a refreshing, cozy treat. Perfect for tea lovers craving something sweet, spicy, and cold.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chai tea bags or 2 teaspoons loose leaf chai
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 12 tablespoons sweetener (honey, maple syrup, sugar, or agave)
  • 1 to 1.5 teaspoons vanilla syrup OR 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy: oat, almond, soy, coconut)
  • Ice cubes (enough to fill a tall glass)
  • Optional: ground cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish
  • Optional: cinnamon stick or star anise for garnish

Instructions

  1. Steep 2 chai tea bags (or 2 teaspoons loose leaf chai) in 1 cup boiling water for about 5 minutes. Remove tea bags or strain leaves.
  2. Stir in 1-2 tablespoons sweetener while the tea is hot to dissolve.
  3. Mix in 1 to 1.5 teaspoons vanilla syrup, or 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract plus extra sweetener if needed. Taste and adjust.
  4. Let the chai cool to room temperature, or chill in the fridge/freezer for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Fill a tall glass or mason jar halfway or more with ice cubes.
  6. Pour the cooled chai tea over the ice, filling the glass about 2/3 full.
  7. Slowly pour in 1/2 to 3/4 cup milk of choice. Watch the swirls mix.
  8. Stir well. Garnish with ground cinnamon, nutmeg, or a cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

For best results, chill the chai tea before pouring over ice to prevent dilution. Adjust sweetener and milk to taste. Use plant-based milk for vegan or dairy-free versions. Froth milk for extra creaminess. Make chai concentrate ahead for quick assembly. Garnish with extra spices for a coffee shop vibe.
