A sweet, savory glaze kissed with citrus pairs perfectly with buttery, flaky salmon for an indulgent yet simple gourmet dinner idea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets, fresh, skin-on
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • Green onions, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, orange juice, minced garlic, and grated ginger (if using). Heat over medium heat until it starts to bubble, then simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened. Set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down and cook for about 3 minutes, until the skin is crispy.
  4. Carefully flip the fillets and brush the tops generously with the amber glaze. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the salmon is cooked through and the glaze has caramelized.
  5. Sprinkle orange zest over the salmon before removing it from the pan.
  6. Plate the salmon and garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Serve with steamed veggies, rice, or salad for a complete meal.

Notes

[‘Let salmon sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before cooking for even cooking.’, ‘Salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145ยฐF (63ยฐC).’, ‘Brush the glaze generously for maximum flavor.’, ‘If the glaze thickens too much, add a splash of water to loosen it up.’]
