These apple cider cocktails are the ultimate easy fall drinkโ€”quick to make, endlessly customizable, and bursting with cozy apple and spice flavors. Perfect for parties, holidays, or a festive night in, they can be served hot or cold and adapted for any crowd.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz (120 ml) fresh apple cider
  • 2 oz (60 ml) bourbon, spiced rum, whiskey, vodka, or brandy
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) maple syrup or honey (optional, to taste)
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon or dash of nutmeg (optional)
  • Sparkling water or ginger beer (optional, for topping)
  • Apple slices, orange wheels, cinnamon sticks, cranberries, rosemary sprigs (for garnish)
  • Ice (for cold version)

Instructions

  1. Chill apple cider in the fridge for at least 2 hours for cold cocktails, or warm in a small saucepan over medium-low heat for 5-7 minutes for hot cocktails (do not boil).
  2. In a cocktail shaker or mason jar, combine 2 oz spirit of choice, 4 oz apple cider, 0.5 oz lemon juice, and maple syrup or honey if desired. Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra spice.
  3. For cold drinks: Add a handful of ice and shake for 10-15 seconds until frosty. For hot drinks: Stir ingredients together in the saucepan.
  4. Strain cold cocktails into a glass filled with fresh ice, or ladle hot cocktails into mugs.
  5. Top with a splash of ginger beer or sparkling water if desired.
  6. Garnish with apple slices, orange wheels, cinnamon sticks, cranberries, or rosemary sprigs. For extra flair, rim the glass with cinnamon sugar before pouring.
  7. Taste and adjust: Add more citrus if too sweet, more cider or water if too strong.
  8. Serve immediately. For parties, batch the base in a pitcher and let guests add ice and garnishes to their liking.

Notes

Taste your apple cider before mixingโ€”adjust lemon juice or sweetener as needed for balance. For parties, batch the base in advance and add ice or sparkling mixers just before serving. Garnishes add aroma and visual appeal. Make it non-alcoholic by skipping the spirits and topping with ginger beer or sparkling water. Most spirits are gluten-free, but check labels if sensitive. For best results, use fresh spices and real apple cider (not juice).
