Apple Cinnamon Hot Toddy - featured image

A cozy autumn cocktail combining spiced cinnamon, sweet apple cider, and a hint of whiskey, perfect for chilly evenings or fall gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) apple cider
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 23 whole cloves
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) lemon juice
  • 12 ounces (3060 ml) whiskey
  • Optional garnishes: thin apple slices, star anise, or a twist of lemon peel

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups (480 ml) of apple cider, 2 cinnamon sticks, and 2-3 whole cloves.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to simmer gently, about 5 minutes. Keep an eye on it to prevent boiling.
  3. Once simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix until fully dissolved.
  4. Add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of lemon juice to the mixture for a bright, tangy note.
  5. Pour 1-2 ounces (30-60 ml depending on preference) of whiskey into your serving mug.
  6. Carefully strain the hot apple cider mixture into your mug over the whiskey. Discard the cloves and cinnamon sticks.
  7. Give it a gentle stir and garnish with a cinnamon stick, a thin slice of apple, or a twist of lemon peel for a fancy touch.
  8. Serve immediately while piping hot and enjoy!

Notes

[‘Simmer the mixture gently to preserve flavors.’, ‘Use fresh spices for a more vibrant flavor.’, ‘Maple syrup or brown sugar can be used as alternatives to honey.’, ‘Serve hot but not scaldingโ€”let it cool for a minute after pouring.’, ‘Experiment with different types of whiskey for varied flavor profiles.’]
