A smooth and flavorful homemade moonshine packed with apple cider, warming spices, and just the right amount of kickโ€”perfect for cozy autumn evenings or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 4 cups apple juice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 6 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups Everclear (or high-proof vodka, adjust to taste)
  • 2 fresh apples, sliced
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons caramel syrup

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine apple cider, apple juice, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Stir until the sugars dissolve.
  2. Add cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and vanilla extract. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 30 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
  4. Remove the pot from heat and let the mixture cool completely.
  5. Once cooled, stir in the Everclear or vodka. Start with 2 cups and adjust to taste.
  6. Slice fresh apples and place a few slices into each mason jar or bottle for added flavor and presentation.
  7. Using a ladle, carefully pour the moonshine into jars or bottles. Seal tightly and refrigerate.
  8. Let the moonshine sit for at least 24 hours before serving for the best flavor.
