A refreshing and easy-to-make beer margarita that combines the tangy lime, smooth tequila, and crisp Mexican lager for the perfect game day cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) Tequila Blanco, preferably 100% agave
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) Fresh lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) Orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 12 ounces (355 ml) Mexican lager, chilled (e.g., Corona, Modelo, Pacifico)
  • ยฝ ounce (15 ml) Agave syrup (optional)
  • Salt for rimming the glass (coarse sea salt or kosher salt)
  • Lime wedges for garnish and rimming

Instructions

  1. Prepare your glass: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass. Pour coarse salt onto a small plate and dip the rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set aside.
  2. Mix the base: In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 ounces tequila blanco, 1 ounce fresh lime juice, 1 ounce orange liqueur, and ยฝ ounce agave syrup if using.
  3. Shake it up: Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until the mixture is slightly frothy.
  4. Add ice and strain: Fill the prepared glass with ice cubes. Strain the shaken mixture over the ice to fill about two-thirds of the glass.
  5. Top with beer: Slowly pour 12 ounces of chilled Mexican lager over the cocktail mixture to preserve carbonation and create a light fizz.
  6. Garnish and serve: Add a lime wedge on the rim or drop a small wedge into the glass. Stir gently if desired or leave layered.

Notes

Do not shake the beer with other ingredients to avoid losing carbonation. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Chill all ingredients before mixing. Salt the rim just before serving. Adjust agave syrup to taste or omit for less sweetness. For gluten-free, use gluten-free beer or sparkling water with lime.
