Black Magic Moscow Mule - featured image

A spooky twist on the classic Moscow Mule, featuring bold flavors, a dramatic black hue, and an optional fog effect with dry iceโ€”perfect for Halloween gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 46 ounces ginger beer
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • Pinch of activated charcoal powder
  • Crushed ice
  • Optional dry ice
  • Lime wedges for garnish
  • Mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Juice fresh limes to yield about 1 ounce (30 ml) of lime juice per serving.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine lime juice and a small pinch of activated charcoal powder. Shake well to dissolve the powder completely.
  3. Fill a copper mug or glass with crushed ice.
  4. Pour 2 ounces (60 ml) of vodka over the ice, followed by the lime juice-charcoal mixture.
  5. Top with 4-6 ounces (120-180 ml) of ginger beer. Stir gently with a bar spoon to combine the flavors without losing the fizz.
  6. Optional: Using tongs, carefully place a small piece of dry ice into the mug for the fog effect. Wait until the dry ice stops bubbling before sipping.
  7. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint for a fresh finish.

Notes

Use a pinch of activated charcoal to avoid overpowering the flavor. Handle dry ice with gloves or tongs and ensure it fully dissolves before serving. Chill copper mugs in the freezer for 10-15 minutes for maximum refreshment.
