This easy homemade caramel apple cider is the ultimate cozy fall drink, blending warm apple cider with creamy caramel and a hint of cinnamon. Perfect for chilly days, family gatherings, or festive parties—kids and adults alike will love every comforting sip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups apple cider or apple juice (unsweetened preferred)
  • 1/3 cup creamy caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream (for topping, optional)
  • Extra caramel sauce (for topping, optional)
  • Ground cinnamon or apple pie spice (for topping, optional)
  • Apple slices or cinnamon sticks (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure out all ingredients: 4 cups apple cider or juice, 1/3 cup caramel sauce, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Prepare toppings if using.
  2. Pour the apple cider into a medium saucepan. Add caramel sauce, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Set the saucepan over medium heat. Whisk constantly as the mixture warms, ensuring the caramel melts completely. Heat for 8-10 minutes, until steaming but not boiling.
  4. Taste and adjust: Add more caramel for extra sweetness, or a splash of lemon juice or more salt if too sweet.
  5. Ladle the hot caramel apple cider into mugs or heatproof glasses.
  6. Top each mug with whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel, and a sprinkle of cinnamon or apple pie spice. Garnish with apple slices or a cinnamon stick if desired. For a spiked version, stir in 1 oz bourbon, spiced rum, or caramel vodka per mug just before serving.

Notes

For dairy-free or vegan, use coconut caramel sauce and non-dairy whipped topping. Always heat gently to avoid separating the caramel. Make a big batch and keep warm in a slow cooker for parties. Customize with extra spices, chai tea, or a splash of lemon juice for brightness. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat gently, stirring well.
