Scale
  • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) whiskey (bourbon or rye)
  • 1 chai tea bag or 1 teaspoon loose chai tea
  • 12 teaspoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional, for garnish)
  • 23 whole cloves

Instructions

  1. Bring 1 cup (240 ml) of water to a boil in a kettle or saucepan.
  2. Place the chai tea bag (or loose tea in a tea infuser) into your mug and pour the boiling water over it. Let it steep for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tea bag or strainer and add 1-2 teaspoons of honey, stirring until fully dissolved.
  4. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon (approximately 1 tablespoon or 15 ml) into the mug.
  5. Add 1.5 ounces (45 ml) of whiskey to the mug and stir gently.
  6. Drop in a cinnamon stick, 2-3 cloves, and a cardamom pod for extra aroma and flavor.
  7. Optional: Garnish with a thin slice of lemon or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon for presentation.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy while hot!

Notes

For a sweeter drink, add more honey or try maple syrup. To keep the drink warm for guests, prepare the chai tea base in advance and store it in a thermos.
