A warm, comforting cocktail that captures the nostalgic flavors of apple pie with moonshine, spiced apple cider, cinnamon syrup, and a luscious caramel drizzle. Perfect for cozy fall nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) moonshine
  • 4 oz (120 ml) fresh, unfiltered apple cider
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) cinnamon syrup
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • About 1 tbsp caramel sauce
  • Ice cubes
  • Apple slice (for garnish)
  • Cinnamon stick (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your cinnamon syrup if making homemade: combine 1 cup (200 g) sugar, 1 cup (240 ml) water, and 3 cinnamon sticks in a small saucepan. Simmer gently for 10 minutes, then cool and strain. Store extra syrup in the fridge.
  2. Chill your rocks glass by filling it with ice or placing it in the freezer for a few minutes.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz (60 ml) moonshine, 4 oz (120 ml) apple cider, 0.5 oz (15 ml) cinnamon syrup, and 0.5 oz (15 ml) fresh lemon juice.
  4. Fill the shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  5. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the outside feels cold and the mixture is well blended.
  6. Discard the ice used for chilling the glass, then strain the cocktail over fresh ice cubes into the chilled glass.
  7. Using a spoon, drizzle about 1 tablespoon of caramel sauce over the drink.
  8. Garnish with a thin apple slice and a cinnamon stick on the rim.

Notes

Do not over-shake to preserve the cider’s fizz. Warm caramel sauce slightly if too thick for easy drizzling. Use fresh apple cider for best flavor. The cocktail is best served immediately after preparation. Base mix can be refrigerated up to 24 hours without caramel drizzle. For vegan version, use plant-based caramel sauce and ensure cinnamon syrup is vegan.
