  • 1 cup (240 ml) caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 34 cinnamon sticks

  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • 23 crisp apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji), thinly sliced
  • Whipped cream (store-bought or homemade with vanilla) – optional
  • Splash of lemon juice (optional, to prevent apple browning)
  • Optional booze: bourbon, spiced rum, or apple brandy
  • Extras for garnish: caramel candies, mini marshmallows, candied ginger

Instructions

  1. Pour 2 quarts of fresh apple cider into a slow cooker or large pot and heat on low for 30-45 minutes until steaming but not boiling (around 140ยฐF).
  2. Stir in 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ยฝ teaspoon ground nutmeg, and a pinch of ground cloves. Add 3-4 cinnamon sticks and let infuse for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Warm about 1 cup of caramel sauce slightly until pourable but not hot. If making from scratch, melt 1 cup sugar over medium heat until amber, stir in 6 tablespoons unsalted butter and ยฝ cup heavy cream, whisk until smooth and cool.
  4. Wash and thinly slice 2-3 crisp apples. Toss slices in a splash of lemon juice if desired to prevent browning. Arrange on a platter for easy access.
  5. Set up the bar by placing the warm cider dispenser prominently. Arrange ramekins with caramel sauce, whipped cream, cinnamon sticks, ground spices, and garnishes like mini marshmallows or caramel candies around it. Provide spoons and tongs.
  6. If using alcohol, set out small bottles of bourbon or spiced rum with shot glasses for guests to add as desired.
  7. Add cozy touches like candles or fall-themed lights. Encourage guests to customize their drinks with garnishes.
