A quick and easy homemade version of Starbucks’ Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew, perfect for hot summer days. This recipe features a smooth cold brew coffee topped with a luscious vanilla sweet cream made from simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) strong cold brew concentrate or preferred cold brew
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream, cold
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk, cold
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Ice cubes (about 1 to 1 1/2 cups or 240-360 ml)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl or jar, combine 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1/2 cup whole milk, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar.
  2. Whisk or froth vigorously for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy, with sugar completely dissolved.
  3. Fill a tall glass with plenty of ice cubes (about 1 to 1 1/2 cups).
  4. Pour 1 cup cold brew concentrate over the ice. Dilute with cold water or milk if a lighter coffee taste is preferred. Stir gently.
  5. Slowly pour about 1/3 cup (80 ml) of the homemade vanilla sweet cream over the cold brew to create a swirling effect.
  6. Optionally, gently stir to combine or leave layered. Add a straw and serve immediately.

Notes

If vanilla sweet cream is too thick, add a splash more milk to thin it while maintaining body. Use cold ingredients to keep the drink chilled longer. Pour cream slowly over the back of a spoon for a layered effect. Vanilla sweet cream can be prepared up to 3 days ahead and stored refrigerated; whisk before use.
