A quick and easy whipped matcha latte featuring a fluffy, creamy dalgona-style foam that melts into cold or warm milk for a comforting and visually striking drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder (ceremonial grade preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (can substitute coconut sugar or honey)
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (around 160ยฐF / 70ยฐC)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk (or oat milk, almond milk for dairy-free)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine 1 tablespoon matcha powder and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar. Add 2 tablespoons hot water (around 160ยฐF / 70ยฐC). Whisk until smooth and slightly frothy, about 30 seconds.
  2. Using an electric mixer on medium-high speed, whip the matcha mixture until thick and stiff peaks form, about 3 to 5 minutes. Slow down or pause if foam starts to lose volume.
  3. Pour 1 cup (240 ml) cold whole milk or preferred milk alternative into a serving glass. Add ice cubes if desired for a chilled latte. For a warm latte, heat milk until steaming but not boiling.
  4. Spoon the whipped matcha foam generously over the milk, creating a layered effect. Smooth the top gently with the back of a spoon if desired.
  5. Optionally, dust extra matcha powder or sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Use ceremonial grade matcha for best flavor and foam texture. Water temperature should be around 160ยฐF to avoid bitterness. Avoid over-whipping to prevent foam collapse. For vegan version, substitute milk with oat or almond milk and sugar with maple syrup. Foam can be stored in fridge up to 24 hours and re-whipped before use.
