A cozy and creamy hot chocolate featuring velvety white chocolate and vibrant ceremonial-grade matcha, perfect for winter evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk (or oat/almond milk for dairy-free)
  • 4 oz (115 g) white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate
  • 2 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha powder
  • ยฝ tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent skin from forming. The milk should be warm but not boiling.
  2. Add the white chocolate to the warm milk and stir gently until fully melted and smooth, about 3โ€“4 minutes.
  3. Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to avoid clumps. Add 1 tablespoon of the warm milk mixture to the matcha and whisk until it forms a smooth paste.
  4. Pour the matcha paste back into the saucepan with the remaining milk mixture and whisk well to combine evenly.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt. Taste and add honey or maple syrup if additional sweetness is desired.
  6. Serve immediately in heatproof mugs. Top with whipped cream and optionally sprinkle with matcha powder or white chocolate shavings.

Notes

Use ceremonial-grade matcha for best color and flavor. Heat milk gently to avoid scorching. Whisk matcha with a small amount of warm milk first to prevent lumps. Avoid boiling after adding chocolate to prevent seizing. For vegan version, use dairy-free white chocolate and plant-based milk like coconut or almond milk.
