A quick and easy homemade iced caramel macchiato that balances bold espresso, silky milk, and sweet caramel drizzle for a refreshing and indulgent coffee treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots (about 2 oz or 60 ml) freshly brewed espresso
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold whole milk or milk of choice (almond, oat, soy for dairy-free)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vanilla syrup (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) caramel sauce for drizzling
  • Ice cubes (about 1 cup or 240 ml)
  • Optional: whipped cream for garnish
  • Optional: pinch of sea salt for salted caramel twist

Instructions

  1. Brew two shots (about 2 oz or 60 ml) of fresh espresso using an espresso machine or stovetop maker.
  2. Fill a tall glass halfway with ice cubes (about 1 cup or 240 ml).
  3. Pour 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of vanilla syrup over the ice and stir lightly to distribute flavor.
  4. Slowly pour 1 cup (240 ml) of cold milk over the ice and syrup. Froth milk if desired and gently pour froth on top.
  5. Slowly pour the warm espresso shots over the milk using the back of a spoon to create layered effect.
  6. Drizzle 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of caramel sauce generously over the top, optionally in a crisscross pattern.
  7. Add whipped cream or sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top if desired.
  8. Serve immediately with a straw or stir gently before sipping.

Notes

Pour espresso slowly over the back of a spoon to maintain layers. Use cold milk straight from the fridge to prevent ice melting too fast. Warm caramel sauce slightly if too thick. Let espresso rest 30 seconds before pouring to avoid melting ice. Vanilla syrup balances espresso bitterness.
