A refreshing and creamy iced espresso drink sweetened with brown sugar, perfect for hot summer days. This quick and easy recipe delivers a frothy, velvety texture with a rich caramel flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots (about 2 ounces or 60 ml) freshly brewed espresso
  • 2 teaspoons packed brown sugar (dark or light)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk of choice (whole milk, oat milk, or almond milk)
  • About 1 cup ice cubes (240 ml)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots (about 2 ounces or 60 ml) of espresso using an espresso machine or stovetop method. Allow to cool for about 2 minutes.
  2. While the espresso is still warm, stir in 2 teaspoons of brown sugar until fully dissolved.
  3. Fill a cocktail shaker or mason jar halfway with ice cubes (about 1 cup or 240 ml).
  4. Pour the sweetened espresso over the ice. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) of milk and, if using, 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  5. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until frothy and chilled.
  6. Strain the shaken espresso into a tall glass filled with fresh ice.
  7. Optionally, sprinkle a little cinnamon on top and serve immediately.

Notes

Use freshly brewed espresso for best flavor. Shake vigorously to achieve frothy texture. Brown sugar dissolves best in warm espresso. Use fresh ice cubes to keep the drink cold longer. Adjust sweetness by varying brown sugar amount. For dairy-free, use oat or almond milk. Avoid reheating as it loses frothy texture.
