A cozy, creamy latte featuring rich espresso, sweet maple syrup, and a crunchy toasted pecan topping. Perfect for brightening up chilly mornings or relaxed weekends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots (60 ml) espresso or 1/2 cup (120 ml) strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk of choice (whole, almond, or oat milk)
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon (14 g) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots (60 ml) of espresso or 1/2 cup (120 ml) of strong coffee. Set aside to keep warm.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon (14 g) unsalted butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add 1/4 cup (30 g) chopped pecans, a pinch of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon if using. Stir frequently for 3-5 minutes until pecans turn golden and fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Warm 1 cup (240 ml) of milk in a small saucepan until just steaming (about 3 minutes). Froth milk using a milk frother or whisk vigorously until creamy and frothy. Alternatively, heat in microwave for 1-1.5 minutes then froth.
  4. Stir 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract into the warm milk. Mix gently to blend flavors.
  5. Pour brewed espresso or coffee into a mug or latte glass. Slowly add the warm, frothy maple-milk mixture, holding back foam with a spoon, then spoon foam on top.
  6. Sprinkle toasted pecans generously on top of the foam.
  7. Optionally, dust with extra cinnamon or drizzle a little more maple syrup for garnish. Serve immediately.

Notes

Toast pecans fresh to maintain crunch. Use pure maple syrup for best flavor. If no frother, whisk milk vigorously or shake in a sealed jar. Add maple syrup to milk, not coffee, for better blending. Reheat milk gently to avoid scalding. Store toasted pecans separately to keep crunchy.
