A soothing and creamy lavender latte made in a French press, perfect for a calm morning ritual with simple ingredients and quick preparation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon (7 g) medium-coarse ground coffee beans (medium roast recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon (1 g) dried culinary lavender buds (organic, food-grade)
  • 8 oz (240 ml) water, just off-boil (about 200ยฐF or 93ยฐC)
  • 6 oz (180 ml) milk of choice (whole milk preferred; almond, oat, or coconut milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons sweetener (raw honey or maple syrup recommended)
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: pinch of ground cinnamon or nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Add 1 tablespoon of medium-coarse ground coffee and 1 teaspoon of dried culinary lavender buds into your French press.
  2. Heat 8 oz of water to just below boiling (around 200ยฐF or 93ยฐC). If no thermometer, boil and rest for 30 seconds.
  3. Pour about 2 oz of hot water into the French press to saturate the grounds and lavender. Stir gently and let sit for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the remaining 6 oz of hot water to the French press. Place the lid on with the plunger pulled up and steep for 4 minutes.
  5. While coffee steeps, heat 6 oz of milk on the stove or with a frother until hot but not boiling (around 150ยฐF or 65ยฐC). Froth the milk until creamy and foamy.
  6. Slowly press the plunger down to separate grounds and lavender. Pour brewed coffee into a mug.
  7. Stir in 1 to 2 teaspoons of sweetener and vanilla extract if using. Gently pour in the frothed milk, holding back foam with a spoon, then spoon foam on top.
  8. Optional: Sprinkle a pinch of ground lavender, cinnamon, or nutmeg on top as garnish.

Notes

Avoid over-steeping lavender to prevent bitterness. Use fresh coffee grounds for best flavor. Milk frothing can be done with a whisk or shaking warmed milk if no frother is available. Adjust sweetener gradually to taste. Store brewed lavender coffee concentrate in fridge up to 48 hours.
