A nostalgic and refreshing summer treat combining fizzy grape soda with rich vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 generous scoops vanilla ice cream (full-fat recommended)
  • 1 cup (8 fl oz / 240 ml) grape soda with authentic grape flavor
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • 1 maraschino cherry (for garnish)
  • A few drops vanilla extract (optional, stirred into ice cream before scooping)
  • 34 small ice cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill your glass in the freezer for about 10 minutes to keep the float cold longer.
  2. If using vanilla extract, stir a few drops into softened ice cream.
  3. Scoop two generous balls (about 1 cup or 150 g) of ice cream into the chilled glass.
  4. Optionally, place 3-4 small ice cubes around the ice cream for extra coldness.
  5. Slowly pour 1 cup (240 ml) of grape soda over the ice cream, pouring gently to keep some foam.
  6. Top with a generous swirl of whipped cream if desired.
  7. Garnish with a maraschino cherry on top.
  8. Serve immediately with a straw or spoon to enjoy while fizzy and fresh.

Notes

Use cold ingredients to keep the float refreshing and prevent ice cream from melting too quickly. Pour soda slowly down the side of the glass to minimize overflow and preserve foam. Serve immediately for best fizzy texture. For dairy-free, substitute vanilla ice cream with coconut or almond milk-based ice cream and use vegan-friendly grape soda.
