A creamy, fruity latte combining fresh strawberry syrup, rich espresso, and steamed milk, topped with whipped cream for a nostalgic and indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots (about 60 ml) freshly brewed espresso or 1/2 cup (120 ml) strong brewed coffee
  • 1 cup (about 150 g) fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • 23 tablespoons sugar (granulated or superfine), adjust to taste
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk (substitute almond, oat, or coconut milk if desired)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy whipping cream, whipped lightly (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon strawberry jam or preserve (optional)
  • Honey or maple syrup as sugar substitute (optional)
  • Whipped cream or foam for garnish (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions

  1. Make the Strawberry Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine chopped fresh strawberries, sugar, and water. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Cook for about 10 minutes until strawberries soften and mixture thickens slightly.
  2. Blend the Syrup: Remove from heat and puree the strawberries using a blender or immersion blender until smooth. For chunkier texture, pulse briefly. Let cool to room temperature (about 15 minutes).
  3. Brew the Espresso or Coffee: Prepare 2 shots (60 ml) of espresso or 1/2 cup (120 ml) strong brewed coffee. Pour into your favorite mug or glass.
  4. Heat and Froth the Milk: Warm milk in a saucepan over medium-low heat or microwave until hot but not boiling (about 150ยฐF / 65ยฐC). Use a frother or whisk vigorously to create foam and creamy texture.
  5. Combine the Latte: Stir cooled strawberry syrup and vanilla extract into hot espresso. Gently pour steamed milk over coffee mixture, holding back foam with a spoon. Spoon foam on top.
  6. Top It Off: Lightly whip heavy cream with a little sugar or leave unsweetened, then dollop generously over the latte. Optionally drizzle with strawberry jam or sprinkle freeze-dried strawberry flakes.
  7. Serve Immediately: Sip slowly and enjoy the creamy, fruity symphony.

Notes

Use small, firm strawberries for best syrup texture. Frozen strawberries can be used after thawing and draining excess liquid. For dairy-free, substitute whole milk with almond, oat, or coconut milk and heavy cream with coconut cream. If syrup is too thick after cooling, stir in a splash of warm water. Chill milk before frothing for better foam. Avoid overheating milk to prevent burnt flavor.
