A quick and easy homemade cold brew coffee topped with a smooth, velvety vanilla sweet cream that floats perfectly for a refreshing and indulgent drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold brew coffee concentrate or brewed cold brew coffee
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream, cold
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk, cold (whole milk preferred, 2% or dairy-free alternatives like oat milk work too)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Ice cubes as needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cold brew: If using store-bought cold brew, chill it well in the fridge. To make your own, steep 1 cup (100 g) coarsely ground coffee in 4 cups (960 ml) cold water for 12-24 hours, then strain through a fine mesh or coffee filter. Dilute concentrate 1:1 with water or milk if desired and chill before using.
  2. Make the vanilla sweet cream: In a mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons powdered sugar. Whip gently with a whisk or electric mixer until soft peaks form, about 2-3 minutes. The cream should be light, airy, and pourable, not stiff.
  3. Assemble the drink: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Pour 1 cup cold brew over the ice. Slowly spoon the vanilla sweet cream over the cold brew, letting it float on top. Serve with a straw or stir before drinking.

Notes

Keep cream and milk cold before whipping for best results. Whip to soft peaks to ensure the cream floats on the cold brew. Use powdered sugar to avoid grainy texture. Sweet cream can be made ahead and stored in the fridge, then re-whipped before serving. For vegan version, substitute heavy cream and milk with coconut cream and almond milk, and powdered sugar with maple syrup.
