A light, frothy whipped coffee frappe with a creamy milk base, perfect for a refreshing treat or cozy afternoon indulgence. Easy to make with simple ingredients and a fun whipping process.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee (about 10 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (25 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (30 ml)
  • 1 cup milk (240 ml; whole milk preferred, but skim, oat, or almond milk can be used)
  • 1 cup ice cubes (about 150 grams)
  • Optional: pinch of salt (less than 1/4 teaspoon)
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: sweeteners like honey or maple syrup

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 tablespoons instant coffee, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons hot water. Add a pinch of salt if using.
  2. Whip the mixture using an electric mixer on medium-high speed or a hand whisk for 3-5 minutes until thick, creamy, and light golden foam forms with soft peaks.
  3. Fill a tall glass with 1 cup milk and add 1 cup ice cubes. For a creamier frappe, use cold whole milk or warm the milk slightly if preferred.
  4. Spoon or pipe the whipped coffee foam gently over the milk, creating a layered look.
  5. Serve with a straw or spoon and stir before drinking to enjoy the creamy coffee blend.

Notes

Use hot but not boiling water (around 160-175ยฐF) to dissolve sugar properly for best whipping results. Whip until soft peaks form but do not over-whip to avoid dry foam. Adding a pinch of salt enhances flavor. Whole milk gives the creamiest texture, but plant-based milks work well for vegan versions. Store whipped coffee separately in an airtight container for up to 24 hours; foam may lose volume over time.
