A light and refreshing blend of crisp apple cider and mild lager beer, perfect for fall tailgates and casual gatherings. This easy recipe balances tartness and fizz for a festive yet calming drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) apple cider, preferably fresh-pressed or unfiltered
  • 1 cup (240 ml) lager beer, light and crisp (e.g., Samuel Adams Boston Lager or Yuengling Premium)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) simple syrup (optional)
  • Thin apple slices (Honeycrisp or Fuji) for garnish
  • Cinnamon stick (optional, for stirring and aroma)
  • Ice cubes as needed

Instructions

  1. Chill apple cider and lager in the fridge for at least a couple of hours.
  2. Optional: Chill serving glasses in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  3. In a pitcher, combine fresh lemon juice and simple syrup; stir gently to blend.
  4. Pour in the chilled apple cider and stir slowly to mix with lemon and syrup.
  5. Carefully add the chilled lager to the pitcher and stir very gently to preserve carbonation.
  6. Fill each glass with ice cubes, pour the shandy mixture over the ice.
  7. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a couple of thin apple slices.
  8. Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh carbonation and bright flavors.

Notes

Use a mild lager with low bitterness to let the apple cider shine. Add beer last and stir gently to keep carbonation. Skip simple syrup if cider is very sweet. For gluten-free, use gluten-free lager or substitute beer with sparkling water or ginger ale for a non-alcoholic version. Serve immediately for best fizz.
