A fun and festive frozen cocktail featuring distinct red, white, and blue slush layers inspired by the classic bomb pop popsicle. Perfect for summer parties, this refreshing drink combines fresh fruit, creamy yogurt, and optional vodka or rum for a nostalgic and delicious treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 2 ounces vodka or white rum (optional)
  • White Layer: 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup cold milk or coconut milk
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ounces vodka or rum (optional)
  • Blue Layer: 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 2 ounces vodka or rum (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Red Slush: In a blender, combine strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, cold water, and ice cubes. Blend on high until smooth and slushy. Add vodka or rum if using and pulse briefly to mix. Pour gently into the bottom of a glass until about one-third full. Freeze for 10-15 minutes to firm up.
  2. Prepare the White Layer: Rinse blender or use a clean jar. Blend Greek yogurt, condensed milk, vanilla extract, milk, and ice cubes until creamy and smooth. Stir in vodka or rum if desired. Remove glass from freezer and carefully spoon or pour the white layer over the red slush. Freeze for another 10-15 minutes.
  3. Create the Blue Slush: Blend blueberries, sugar, lime juice, cold water, and ice cubes until thick and icy. Add alcohol if desired. Gently layer the blue slush on top of the white layer. Freeze for 10 minutes before serving.
  4. Final Touches: Let the glass sit at room temperature for 3-5 minutes before serving so the slush is not rock hard. Garnish with a fresh strawberry or lime wedge. Serve with a straw or spoon.

Notes

Pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon to avoid mixing colors. Freeze each layer for 10-15 minutes before adding the next to keep layers distinct. Use frozen berries for thicker slush and skip extra ice cubes if using frozen fruit. For non-alcoholic version, omit spirits and replace with sparkling water or lemon-lime soda. Substitute coconut yogurt and coconut milk for dairy-free and vegan options. Add a pinch of cinnamon or ginger syrup to the white layer for a spiced twist.
