Shirley Temple recipe - featured image

A quick and easy classic Shirley Temple mocktail featuring grenadine syrup and crisp Sprite, perfect for kids and adults alike. This refreshing drink balances sweet and tart flavors with a bubbly sparkle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces (240 ml) Sprite or any lemon-lime soda, chilled
  • 1 to 1.5 tablespoons (15 to 22 ml) grenadine syrup
  • 2 maraschino cherries per glass
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) fresh lime juice (optional)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Fill your glass with 4 to 6 ice cubes (about 1 cup / 240 ml).
  2. Pour 1 to 1.5 tablespoons (15 to 22 ml) of grenadine syrup over the ice.
  3. Slowly add 8 ounces (240 ml) of chilled Sprite over the grenadine.
  4. Optional: Add 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of fresh lime juice for a citrus lift.
  5. Gently stir with a spoon or stirrer to combine without losing fizz.
  6. Garnish with two maraschino cherries on top or skewered on a cocktail pick.
  7. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.

Notes

Chill all ingredients beforehand to keep bubbles intact longer. Pour soda gently to maintain fizz. Use quality grenadine like Rose’s or homemade for best flavor. Avoid over-stirring to preserve carbonation. Garnish variations include orange twist or lime wheel. For a lighter drink, swap half the Sprite with sparkling water and add fresh fruit juice.
