A quick and easy iced matcha latte made with brown sugar and oat milk, ready in under 5 minutes. This refreshing drink combines sweet caramel notes from brown sugar with earthy matcha for a perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 teaspoons high-quality matcha powder (ceremonial or culinary grade)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (about 175ยฐF)
  • 1 cup oat milk (barista blend preferred)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Combine matcha powder and brown sugar in a small bowl. Break up any clumps in the brown sugar before adding the matcha.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of hot water (about 175ยฐF) to the matcha and brown sugar mixture. Do not use boiling water.
  3. Whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until smooth and paste-like, about 30 seconds. The mixture should be thick and smooth with no lumps.
  4. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes, about three-quarters full.
  5. Pour the matcha paste over the ice cubes.
  6. Slowly pour 1 cup of oat milk over the ice and matcha paste.
  7. Stir with a long spoon or straw until the matcha is fully incorporated and the drink is a uniform light green color.
  8. Taste and adjust sweetness or creaminess as desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Sift matcha powder first to prevent clumps. Use the zigzag whisking motion for best results. Don’t skip the paste stepโ€”it ensures smooth, even flavor. Adjust sweetness to taste. Shake oat milk carton before pouring. For extra cold latte, chill oat milk beforehand or use oat milk ice cubes. The matcha brown sugar paste can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
