A quick and easy homemade energy drink with a bold citrus kick, natural caffeine from cold brewed black tea, and a refreshing fizz. Perfect for a natural pick-me-up without artificial additives.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold brewed black tea
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) pure maple syrup or honey
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) carbonated mineral water or club soda
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) natural ginger juice or freshly grated ginger
  • Optional: A few drops of natural green tea extract or guarana

Instructions

  1. Cold brew your tea: steep 2 black tea bags in 2 cups (480 ml) of cold water overnight in the fridge. Remove tea bags and measure out 1 cup (240 ml) for the drink.
  2. Juice the citrus: squeeze fresh lemons and limes to get 2 tablespoons (30 ml) each of juice. Strain juice through a fine sieve to remove seeds and pulp if desired.
  3. Mix the sweetener and salt: in your mixing pitcher, combine the maple syrup or honey and a pinch of sea salt. Stir to dissolve completely.
  4. Add ginger and optional boosters: stir in the ginger juice or freshly grated ginger (about 1 teaspoon/5 ml). If adding green tea extract or guarana, add a few drops now and stir.
  5. Combine tea and citrus: pour in your cold brewed tea and fresh lemon-lime juice into the mixture. Stir everything until well blended. Adjust sweetener if needed.
  6. Chill and carbonate: add 1 cup (240 ml) of carbonated mineral water or club soda just before serving. Stir gently to mix without losing bubbles.
  7. Serve and garnish: pour into a tall glass filled with ice cubes. Garnish with a thin lemon or lime wheel, or a sprig of fresh mint if desired.

Notes

Cold brew tea overnight for best flavor and smooth caffeine delivery. Use fresh citrus juice for brightness. Add carbonation gently to preserve fizz. Adjust ginger amount gradually to control heat. Store base mixture without soda in fridge up to 3 days. Add soda just before serving.
