A bold and refreshing margarita pitcher featuring fresh jalapeños, lime juice, tequila, and a hint of sweetness, perfect for parties and gatherings with a spicy kick.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) Tequila Blanco (100% agave, e.g., Casamigos or Espolòn)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Fresh lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) Orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) Agave syrup
  • 2 medium jalapeño peppers, sliced thinly (with or without seeds depending on heat tolerance)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Sparkling water or club soda (optional)
  • Ice cubes (plenty for chilling and serving)
  • Coarse or flaky salt for rimming glasses (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice 2 medium jalapeños thinly. Remove seeds and membranes for less heat or keep them for full spiciness.
  2. Gently muddle the jalapeño slices in the bottom of a large pitcher using a muddler or the back of a spoon for 1-2 minutes to release oils without bitterness.
  3. Add 2 cups tequila blanco, 1 cup fresh lime juice, 1/2 cup orange liqueur, and 1/4 cup agave syrup to the pitcher. Stir well for 2-3 minutes until agave dissolves and mixture is combined.
  4. Add plenty of ice cubes to chill the mixture and stir again. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Optional: Just before serving, add 1 cup sparkling water or club soda and stir gently to preserve bubbles.
  6. Rub lime wedge around rims of glasses and dip into coarse salt to rim them.
  7. Fill glasses with ice, pour margarita from the pitcher, and garnish with a jalapeño slice or lime wheel if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Muddle jalapeños gently to avoid bitterness. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Adjust sweetness with agave syrup to taste. Chill pitcher before serving. Add sparkling water just before serving for fizz. Rim glasses with salt by wetting only the outer rim to avoid gritty taste. Let the pitcher rest in the fridge 10-15 minutes for flavors to meld. Store leftovers covered in fridge up to 24 hours; flavors intensify over time.
