A refreshing margarita with a perfect balance of sweet watermelon, spicy jalapeño, and bright lime juice, ideal for summer parties and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) tequila blanco (100% agave, e.g., Espolòn)
  • 1 cup fresh watermelon, diced
  • 34 thin slices fresh jalapeño (adjust to taste)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) agave syrup (or simple syrup)
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • Coarse salt for rimming glass
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Optional: splash of sparkling water or club soda

Instructions

  1. Pour coarse salt onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, add the watermelon cubes and jalapeño slices. Gently muddle with a muddler or wooden spoon for 20-30 seconds until the watermelon releases juice and jalapeño oils infuse.
  3. Add 2 oz tequila blanco, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1/2 oz orange liqueur, and 1/2 oz agave syrup into the shaker.
  4. Fill the shaker with about 1 cup (240 ml) ice cubes to chill the drink.
  5. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until cold and well blended.
  6. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice. Use a fine mesh strainer to remove jalapeño seeds and pulp if desired.
  7. Garnish with a thin slice of jalapeño and a small watermelon wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not over-muddle jalapeños to avoid bitter oils and excessive heat. Use ripe watermelon for best sweetness. Fresh lime juice is essential for brightness. Chill glassware for a colder drink. Adjust jalapeño slices to control spice level. Shake just enough to chill without diluting.
