A playful and easy soda float bar featuring vanilla ice cream, fizzy soda, and colorful jelly beans for a whimsical treat perfect for parties and joyful entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 quarts (6 cups) vanilla ice cream, preferably full-fat
  • 4 cups cream soda or root beer, chilled (optional: sparkling lemonade or orange soda for a citrus twist)
  • 2 cups (about 300 grams) assorted fruity jelly beans
  • 1 cup whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
  • Optional garnishes: maraschino cherries, sprinkles, rainbow sugar crystals

Instructions

  1. Chill your float glasses in the fridge or freezer for 10-15 minutes to keep the soda fizzing longer and prevent rapid melting of the ice cream.
  2. Pour assorted jelly beans into small bowls or serving dishes and arrange them on your float bar table for easy guest access.
  3. Using an ice cream scoop, place two generous scoops (about 1 cup / 240 ml) of vanilla ice cream into each chilled glass.
  4. Slowly pour about 1 cup (240 ml) of your chosen soda over the ice cream, pouring gently to avoid overflow.
  5. Sprinkle a tablespoon or two of jelly beans over the soda and ice cream; let them soften slightly for flavor bursts or add last for crunch.
  6. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and garnish with a cherry or sprinkles if desired.
  7. Serve immediately to enjoy the perfect fizz and creamy texture. Keep extra soda and jelly beans nearby for refills.

Notes

Chill glasses before assembling to keep floats cold and fizzy longer. Pour soda slowly and at an angle to minimize overflow. Use high-quality full-fat vanilla ice cream for best texture and flavor. Experiment with different soda and jelly bean flavor combinations. For vegan options, use dairy-free ice cream and vegan-friendly soda; check jelly bean ingredients for gelatin.
