A quick and easy spicy-sweet cocktail combining fresh mango and jalapeño for a balanced, flavorful margarita perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh mango, peeled and diced
  • 1 small jalapeño pepper, thinly sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 2 ounces tequila blanco (100% agave)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1 tablespoon agave syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Salt for rimming the glass (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro or mint for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and dice the mango into chunks. Place them in a blender and puree until smooth. Pulse a few times if you prefer some texture.
  2. Thinly slice the jalapeño. Add about half the slices to the mango puree and blend briefly to infuse the spicy notes. Remove seeds for milder heat.
  3. Squeeze fresh limes to get 1 ounce of juice.
  4. Rub a lime wedge around the glass rim and dip it into salt or chili-salt blend for rimming (optional).
  5. In a cocktail shaker, combine the mango-jalapeño puree, tequila blanco, lime juice, triple sec, and agave syrup. Fill the shaker halfway with ice.
  6. Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.
  7. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Use a fine mesh strainer if desired to remove jalapeño bits.
  8. Garnish with a slice of jalapeño or a sprig of cilantro or mint.

Notes

Adjust jalapeño seeds to control heat. Use fresh mango and lime juice for best flavor. Shake vigorously rather than stirring. Prepare mango-jalapeño puree up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate. Add water or more agave syrup if too spicy; add extra lime juice if too sweet.
