Flavorful Tropical Rum Runner Cocktail with Banana Liqueur

Ingredients

  • 2 oz light rum (e.g., Bacardi)
  • 1 oz dark rum
  • 1 oz banana liqueur (e.g., Giffard Banane du Brรฉsil)
  • 2 oz orange juice, fresh-squeezed if possible
  • 2 oz pineapple juice, canned or fresh
  • ยฝ oz grenadine syrup
  • ยฝ oz fresh lime juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional garnishes: pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry, sprig of mint

Instructions

  1. Fill a hurricane or highball glass with ice to chill.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, pour 2 oz light rum, 1 oz dark rum, and 1 oz banana liqueur.
  3. Add 2 oz orange juice, 2 oz pineapple juice, and ยฝ oz fresh lime juice to the shaker.
  4. Add ยฝ oz grenadine syrup for color and sweetness.
  5. Fill the shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  6. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15โ€“20 seconds until well mixed and chilled.
  7. Discard the ice from the chilled glass and strain the cocktail into it filled with fresh ice cubes.
  8. Garnish with a pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry, or sprig of mint. Optionally add a small paper umbrella.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best balance. Avoid using melted or diluted ice to prevent watering down the cocktail. Chill glasses ahead of time for a colder drink. Adjust sweetness or rum levels to taste. A splash of club soda can lighten the drink without losing flavor. For a frozen version, blend all ingredients with ice until smooth.
