A bright, festive, and refreshing alcohol-free spritz combining tart cranberries, sweet orange, and aromatic rosemary. Easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries (150g) or frozen
  • Juice of 2 medium oranges (about 1 cup / 240ml)
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 2 fresh rosemary sprigs, bruised lightly
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup (60ml) – homemade or store-bought
  • 2 cups sparkling water or club soda (480ml), chilled
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Optional garnishes: additional rosemary sprigs, fresh cranberries, thin orange slices

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine fresh cranberries with 1/4 cup (60ml) water. Simmer over medium heat until berries burst and soften, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Strain the cranberry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl, pressing solids gently to extract juice. Discard solids and let juice cool to room temperature.
  3. Juice 2 medium oranges to yield about 1 cup (240ml) juice. Zest one orange, avoiding the bitter white pith.
  4. If not using pre-made syrup, make simple syrup by heating equal parts sugar and water until sugar dissolves. Let cool.
  5. Gently bruise 2 rosemary sprigs with a muddler or back of a wooden spoon to release oils without breaking stems.
  6. In a large pitcher or mixing glass, combine cooled cranberry juice, fresh orange juice, orange zest, simple syrup, and bruised rosemary sprigs. Stir gently.
  7. Optional: Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour to infuse rosemary flavor more strongly.
  8. Just before serving, fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour cranberry-orange-rosemary mixture halfway up the glass, then top with 4-6 ounces (120-180ml) sparkling water. Stir gently.
  9. Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig, a few cranberries, and a thin orange slice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Simmer cranberries gently to soften and mellow tartness without bitterness. Bruise rosemary lightly to release aroma without overpowering. Use chilled sparkling water for best fizz. Store cranberry-orange base (without sparkling water or ice) in fridge up to 48 hours. Add sparkling water and ice just before serving to keep bubbles lively. Adjust sweetness with more syrup or sparkling water to taste.
