A refreshing and subtly sweet iced matcha latte made with high-quality matcha powder, vanilla extract, and creamy oat milk. This easy recipe delivers a smooth, energizing drink perfect for warm days or a cozy treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 to 1.5 teaspoons high-quality ceremonial or culinary grade matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) hot water (about 175ยฐF / 80ยฐC)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) chilled oat milk (e.g., Oatly Barista Edition)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Optional: drizzle of maple syrup or honey for extra sweetness

Instructions

  1. Heat about 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of water to near-boil (around 175ยฐF / 80ยฐC) and let cool slightly.
  2. Place 1 to 1.5 teaspoons of matcha powder into a small bowl or serving glass.
  3. Pour the hot water over the matcha powder and whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until smooth and frothy, about 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
  5. Add enough ice cubes to chill the drink without diluting it too quickly (about 1 cup).
  6. Slowly pour 1 cup (240 ml) of chilled oat milk over the ice and matcha mixture.
  7. Gently stir everything together to blend the matcha, vanilla, and oat milk into a smooth latte.
  8. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding a drizzle of maple syrup or honey if desired, stirring well.

Notes

Use hot water below boiling (around 175ยฐF / 80ยฐC) to avoid bitterness. Whisk matcha vigorously to avoid clumps and create froth. Oat milk is preferred for creaminess and natural sweetness; almond or cashew milk can be substituted. For a frothier latte, blend oat milk with matcha before pouring over ice. Store leftover matcha paste with vanilla in fridge up to 24 hours; add fresh oat milk and ice when serving. Avoid reheating to prevent bitterness.
