A quick and easy homemade summer refreshment combining ripe peaches and fresh lemon juice for a naturally sweet and tangy drink perfect for any summer gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 6 medium lemons, juiced (about 1 cup or 240 ml fresh lemon juice)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (150 grams), adjust to taste
  • 6 cups cold water (1.4 liters), divided
  • Ice cubes, as needed for serving
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the peaches by scoring a shallow ‘X’ on the bottom of each peach and blanching them in boiling water for 30 seconds, then plunge into ice water to loosen the skin. Peel and slice into chunks (about 4 cups/600 grams).
  2. Place the peach slices in a blender or food processor and pulse until smooth but still slightly textured, about 30-45 seconds.
  3. Juice the lemons to get about 1 cup (240 ml) of fresh lemon juice, removing any seeds.
  4. In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice and sugar. Stir vigorously until the sugar dissolves completely, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour the peach puree into the pitcher. Add 5 cups (1.2 liters) of cold water and stir until well mixed. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar, lemon juice, or water as needed.
  6. Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 1 hour to let flavors marry.
  7. Serve chilled over plenty of ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Adjust sugar based on peach sweetness. For pulp-free lemonade, strain peach puree before mixing. Add ice at serving time to avoid dilution. Peach puree can be made a day ahead and refrigerated to deepen flavors. Use sparkling water for a fizzy version. Substitute sugar with honey, agave, or stevia for alternative sweeteners.
