A refreshing summer drink combining ripe strawberries, fresh basil, and a subtle white balsamic vinegar drizzle for a perfect balance of sweet, tart, and herbal flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (300g) fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1520 fresh basil leaves, washed
  • 1 cup (240ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) white balsamic vinegar
  • ยฝ cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 4 cups (960ml) cold water
  • Ice cubes, as needed
  • Optional garnishes: lemon slices, extra basil leaves, whole strawberries

Instructions

  1. Place hulled strawberries and basil leaves into a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth and vibrant red, about 30 seconds. Pulse if needed to avoid bitterness. For a smoother texture, strain puree through a fine mesh sieve into a large bowl or pitcher.
  2. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice and granulated sugar to the strawberry-basil puree. Stir thoroughly until sugar dissolves completely, about 2 minutes. Adjust sweetness as needed.
  3. Pour in cold water and stir. Slowly add white balsamic vinegar while stirring to balance sweetness and acidity.
  4. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour lemonade over. Garnish with lemon slices, whole strawberries, or basil sprigs. Serve chilled.

Notes

Avoid over-blending basil to prevent bitterness. Adjust sugar based on strawberry sweetness. Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor. Chill lemonade for at least an hour before serving to meld flavors. For a fizzy version, replace half the water with sparkling water. Leftover lemonade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours.
