A refreshing and naturally sweet drink made with fresh watermelon, lime juice, and a touch of sweetness, perfect for hot summer days and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups (900g) fresh watermelon, cubed and seeds removed
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 12 limes)
  • 2 cups (480ml) cold water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste; can substitute with honey or agave)
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
  • Ice cubes (as needed for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cut about 6 cups (900g) of fresh watermelon into cubes, removing seeds and rind.
  2. Place watermelon cubes in a blender. Add 2 cups (480ml) of cold water and blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  3. Optional: Pour the blended watermelon through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl or pitcher to remove pulp and seeds.
  4. Stir in 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar (or preferred sweetener). Adjust sweetness to taste.
  5. Refrigerate the agua fresca for at least 30 minutes to chill and let flavors meld.
  6. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
  7. Enjoy immediately for best flavor; store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

Notes

Use ripe, juicy watermelon for best flavor. Straining is optional but recommended for a silky smooth texture. Adjust sweetness and lime juice to taste. For a tropical twist, substitute half the sugar with coconut water. Serve chilled and consume within 24 hours for peak freshness.
