A playful and easy Halloween punch bowl featuring creamy orange sherbet floating on a vibrant green Kool-Aid and soda base, perfect for parties and creating a fun texture contrast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces (56 grams) green Kool-Aid powder
  • 1 quart (4 cups or 950 ml) orange sherbet
  • 2 liters (67.6 fl oz) ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
  • 4 cups (950 ml) cold water
  • Optional: a few drops green food coloring

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher, dissolve 2 ounces (56 grams) of green Kool-Aid powder in 4 cups (950 ml) of cold water. Stir well for 1-2 minutes until fully blended and color is vivid. Add green food coloring if desired.
  2. Chill the Kool-Aid mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Pour 2 liters (67.6 fl oz) of chilled ginger ale or lemon-lime soda into a large punch bowl.
  4. Slowly add the chilled Kool-Aid mixture to the punch bowl and gently stir once or twice to combine, avoiding vigorous stirring to preserve carbonation.
  5. Add 4 to 6 generous scoops of orange sherbet on top of the punch. The sherbet will float and slowly melt, creating a frothy, creamy layer.
  6. Serve immediately by ladling punch into cups, making sure to include some sherbet in each serving.
  7. Optional: Float gummy worms or candy eyeballs on top for a spooky garnish.

Notes

Keep sherbet in the freezer until just before serving to maintain fluffy scoops. Avoid vigorous stirring after adding soda to preserve carbonation. Use a large punch bowl to allow sherbet to float freely. For diet-friendly version, use sugar-free Kool-Aid, diet soda, and dairy-free sherbet. Leftovers can be refrigerated covered; sherbet will melt and change texture but still tastes good. Avoid freezing punch to preserve carbonation.
