  • 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk
  • 4 oz (115 g) dark chocolate (70% cocoa), chopped or in chips
  • 2 tbsp (10 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp (1 g) ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add 2 cups (480 ml) of whole milk. Heat until warm but not boiling, stirring occasionally.
  2. Stir in 4 oz (115 g) of chopped dark chocolate and 2 tbsp (10 g) of unsweetened cocoa powder. Whisk continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and incorporated.
  3. Add 2 tbsp (30 ml) of maple syrup, 1/2 tsp (1 g) of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of ground nutmeg. Stir well to combine.
  4. Add 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) of vanilla extract and a small pinch of salt. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  5. Pour into mugs and top with your favorite toppings like whipped cream, marshmallows, or chocolate shavings.

Notes

Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor. Avoid boiling the milk to maintain a creamy texture. Adjust sweetness and spices to your preference.
