Healthy Protein Lemonade with Vanilla Honey

A quick and refreshing protein-packed lemonade with the bright zing of fresh lemons, smooth vanilla honey sweetness, and creamy vanilla protein powder. Perfect for hydration and a nourishing boost anytime.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh lemon juice (about 34 lemons)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) cold water (can substitute half with sparkling water for fizz)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vanilla honey
  • 1 scoop (25-30 grams) vanilla protein powder (whey or plant-based)
  • Ice cubes (6-8)
  • Optional: pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Roll 3-4 fresh lemons on the countertop, halve and juice them until you have about 1/2 cup (120 ml) of fresh lemon juice. Remove seeds carefully.
  2. Add 1 scoop (25-30 grams) of vanilla protein powder into your blender or shaker bottle. Pour in 1 cup (240 ml) of cold water to start. Blend or shake well until smooth and no lumps remain.
  3. Pour in the fresh lemon juice and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of vanilla honey. Add a pinch of sea salt if using. Stir or blend again briefly to combine.
  4. Pour in the remaining 1 cup (240 ml) of cold water and add a handful of ice cubes (about 6-8). Blend gently or stir to chill evenly without diluting too much.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more vanilla honey or lemon juice as needed.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with a lemon slice or fresh mint if desired.

Notes

Use cold water to prevent clumping of protein powder. Blend just enough to combine without frothing. Fresh lemon juice is preferred for best flavor. For vegan option, use plant-based protein and swap vanilla honey with maple syrup or agave nectar. Adding sparkling water just before serving creates a fizzy version. Store lemonade base (lemon juice, water, honey) refrigerated up to 24 hours; add protein powder and ice just before serving.
