A quick and refreshing summer drink combining the crispness of green tea with the juicy sweetness of ripe peaches. Perfect for hot days and easy to customize.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 teaspoons (8 grams) green tea leaves or 4 green tea bags (Sencha or Jasmine recommended)
  • 2 medium fresh ripe peaches, peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 4 cups (960 ml) water for brewing tea plus extra for diluting if needed
  • 1 tablespoon fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Optional: Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (960 ml) of fresh water to a boil, then let it cool to about 175ยฐF (80ยฐC).
  2. Place green tea leaves or bags into a heatproof pitcher and pour hot water over them. Steep for 2-3 minutes, tasting after 2 minutes to avoid bitterness, then remove leaves or bags.
  3. While tea steeps, blend peeled and diced peaches with 1 tablespoon lemon juice until smooth or pulse for some texture.
  4. Once tea has cooled to room temperature, stir in 2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup until dissolved.
  5. Pour peach puree into the sweetened tea and stir thoroughly. Adjust sweetness or lemon juice as needed. Dilute with cold water if too strong.
  6. Add ice cubes to the pitcher or pour tea over ice-filled glasses. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Serve cold, garnished with fresh mint leaves and optional thin peach slices.

Notes

Use water cooled to about 175ยฐF to avoid bitterness. Blend peaches to desired texture. Sweeten gradually and taste as you go. Chill tea and peach puree before combining to keep drink crisp. Fresh peaches and good quality green tea improve flavor significantly. Variations include adding mint, basil, sparkling water, or ginger juice.
