A festive and stunning sangria recipe featuring red wine, vibrant fruits, warm spices, and a touch of fizzโ€”perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle medium-bodied red wine (Merlot, Shiraz, or Tempranillo)
  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed or store-bought)
  • 1 navel orange, sliced
  • 1 apple (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), sliced
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 23 cinnamon sticks
  • 23 whole cloves
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • 23 tablespoons maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 cup sparkling water or prosecco

Instructions

  1. Slice the oranges and apples into thin rounds or wedges. If using fresh pomegranate, carefully remove the seeds and set them aside.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine the bottle of red wine with 1 cup of orange juice. Add 1/4 cup of brandy.
  3. Stir in 2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup, adjusting to taste.
  4. Add 2-3 cinnamon sticks and a few whole cloves to infuse the sangria with warm flavors.
  5. Gently stir in the orange slices, apple wedges, pomegranate seeds, and cranberries.
  6. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Right before serving, top off the sangria with sparkling water or prosecco for a bubbly finish.
  8. Serve the sangria in glasses filled with ice, including some fruit in each glass.

Notes

[‘Let the sangria chill for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld.’, ‘Taste as you go when adding maple syrup to avoid making the sangria too sweet.’, ‘Use fresh fruit and juice for the best flavor.’, ‘Add sparkling water or prosecco right before serving to maintain the fizz.’]
