Irresistible Maple Pecan Old Fashioned Recipe You Must Try

Maple Pecan Old Fashioned - featured image

A warm, nutty, and perfectly balanced cocktail with a hint of cozy sweetness, featuring pecan-infused bourbon and maple syrup for a delightful seasonal twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup bourbon (Maker’s Mark or Woodford Reserve recommended)
  • 1/2 cup raw, unsalted pecans
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) pure maple syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Orange peel for garnish
  • Ice (large cubes preferred)

Instructions

  1. Roast 1/2 cup of pecans at 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) for about 8-10 minutes, or until fragrant. Let them cool, then add them to a mason jar with 1 cup of bourbon. Seal the jar and let it infuse for at least 24 hours (48 hours for a stronger flavor). Strain out the pecans using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
  2. Place a large ice cube in an old fashioned glass. If you donโ€™t have large cubes, smaller ones will work, but they may dilute the drink faster.
  3. In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz (60 ml) of pecan-infused bourbon, 1/2 oz (15 ml) of pure maple syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Stir gently for about 20 seconds to combine and chill the mixture.
  4. Using a strainer, pour the mixed cocktail over the ice in your prepared glass.
  5. Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink by holding it over the glass, and gently twisting it. Drop the peel into the glass for a burst of citrus aroma. Optional: Add a roasted pecan on top for an extra touch.

Notes

[‘Roasting the pecans enhances their nutty flavor.’, ‘Use high-quality maple syrup for the best taste.’, ‘Chill your glass before serving to keep the drink colder for longer.’, ‘Adjust sweetness and strength by adding more bitters or a splash of water.’]
