This irresistible New Year’s Eve sangria recipe is the perfect way to ring in the new year with style and flavor. Fruity notes, a smooth wine base, and a sparkling finish make this drink a celebration in itself.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750ml) red wine (Merlot or Pinot Noir)
  • 1 cup (240ml) freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) brandy
  • 12 cups (240-480ml) club soda or sparkling water
  • Orange slices
  • Apple chunks
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • 12 cinnamon sticks
  • Optional sweetener: 2-4 tablespoons honey, agave syrup, or simple syrup

Instructions

  1. Wash your oranges, apples, and any other fruits youโ€™re using. Slice the oranges into thin rounds, and dice the apples into bite-sized chunks. If using pomegranate seeds, carefully remove them from the fruit.
  2. In your pitcher, pour in one bottle (750ml) of red wine. Add 1 cup (240ml) of freshly squeezed orange juice and ยฝ cup (120ml) of brandy.
  3. Stir in 2-4 tablespoons of your favorite sweetener, adjusting to taste. If your orange juice is already sweet, you might not need much.
  4. Drop in your prepared fruit slices, chunks, or seeds. Be generousโ€”this is what makes sangria so irresistible!
  5. Toss in 1-2 cinnamon sticks for a subtle aromatic note. If youโ€™re feeling adventurous, add a star anise or a few whole cloves.
  6. Cover the pitcher and let the sangria chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Overnight is even better, as it allows the flavors to blend beautifully.
  7. Just before serving, stir in 1-2 cups (240-480ml) of club soda or sparkling water for that festive effervescence.
  8. Pour the sangria into glasses filled with ice. Make sure each glass gets a good mix of fruit along with the liquid. Garnish with a fresh orange slice or mint leaf, if desired.

Notes

[‘Choose a mid-range fruity wine like Merlot, Zinfandel, or Rioja.’, ‘Chill the sangria for at least 2 hours or overnight for better flavor blending.’, ‘Add club soda or sparkling water just before serving to keep it bubbly.’, ‘Experiment with herbs like basil or rosemary for a unique twist.’, ‘Use tropical fruits or berries for different flavor profiles.’]
