  • 2 fresh oranges, sliced thinly
  • 46 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 12 whole cloves
  • 23 star anise (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated or ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Optional: rum, bourbon, or whiskey for a boozy twist

Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the oranges into thin rounds. Set aside spices and measure brown sugar and vanilla extract.
  2. Pour the apple cider into the crockpot. Add orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and nutmeg.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar and vanilla extract. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  4. Set the crockpot to low heat and cook for 3-4 hours, allowing the spices to infuse the cider.
