A warm, spiced apple cider cocktail with rich maple syrup and smoky bourbon, perfect for cozy autumn evenings or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (950 ml) apple cider
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) bourbon
  • 1 orange slice
  • Optional garnish: cinnamon sugar rim, apple slices, or star anise

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, add 4 cups (950 ml) of apple cider, 1 cinnamon stick, and 4 whole cloves.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it starts to bubble gently, approximately 5–7 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and stir in 1/4 cup (60 ml) of pure maple syrup. Taste and add more syrup if preferred.
  4. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) of bourbon to the saucepan. Stir well to combine. Heat for another 1–2 minutes, but do not let the mixture boil.
  5. Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves using a slotted spoon or fine mesh strainer.
  6. Pour the warm cider into mugs or heatproof glasses. Garnish with a slice of orange and, if desired, a sprinkle of cinnamon or a cinnamon sugar rim.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

[‘Don’t boil the bourbon to preserve its flavor.’, ‘Experiment with spices like star anise, nutmeg, or ginger for a unique twist.’, ‘Use fresh apple cider and pure maple syrup for the best taste.’, ‘Start with less maple syrup and adjust sweetness to your preference.’, ‘Caramelizing the maple syrup before adding the cider can add extra flavor.’]
