A refreshing and easy-to-make non-alcoholic mint julep mocktail perfect for summer, combining fresh mint, simple syrup, lime juice, crushed ice, and sparkling water for a cool and invigorating drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves per serving
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water dissolved)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lime juice
  • Crushed ice
  • 46 ounces (120180 ml) sparkling water (plain or lightly flavored)
  • Optional garnishes: extra mint sprigs, lime wheels, edible flowers

Instructions

  1. Rinse the fresh mint leaves and pat them dry. Juice the lime to get about 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of fresh juice per drink. Prepare simple syrup if not ready.
  2. In your glass, place 10-12 mint leaves and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of simple syrup. Gently muddle the leaves to bruise them and release their aroma without crushing.
  3. Add the fresh lime juice and fill the glass with crushed ice almost to the top.
  4. Slowly pour 4-6 ounces (120-180 ml) of sparkling water over the ice. Stir gently to combine without flattening the bubbles.
  5. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime wheel on the rim. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not over-muddle the mint to avoid bitterness. Use fresh mint and freshly squeezed lime juice for best flavor. Crushed ice is key for a frosty, refreshing drink. Chill glasses beforehand for extra coolness. Adjust sweetness to taste. Optional variations include using honey syrup, adding fresh berries, or substituting sparkling water with still water or iced green tea.
