A warm, nutty, and sweet cocktail that combines the flavors of pecan pie with the classic old fashioned. Perfect for holiday gatherings or cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1/2 oz pecan pie syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 orange peel (for garnish)
  • Lightly toasted pecans (optional, for garnish)
  • Large ice cubes or spheres
  • 1 cup brown sugar (for pecan pie syrup)
  • 1 cup water (for pecan pie syrup)
  • 1/2 cup toasted pecans (for pecan pie syrup)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for pecan pie syrup)

Instructions

  1. Make the Pecan Pie Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 cup of water, and 1/2 cup of toasted pecans. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, let it cool, and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Strain the syrup into a jar and refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Prepare Your Glass: Place a large ice cube or sphere into a rocks glass to keep the cocktail chilled while minimizing dilution.
  3. Mix the Cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz bourbon, 1/2 oz pecan pie syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Add ice and stir gently for about 20 seconds to chill the mixture.
  4. Strain and Pour: Strain the cocktail into the prepared rocks glass over the ice cube.
  5. Garnish: Peel a strip of orange skin and twist it over the glass to release its oils. Drop it into the drink. Optionally, add a few toasted pecans to the top.
  6. Serve: Sip slowly and savor the warm, nutty flavors of this indulgent cocktail.
