A bold and fruity bourbon punch with fresh blackberries, lemon juice, and sparkling water, perfect for festive nights and cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries (about 300 grams)
  • 1 ½ cups bourbon whiskey (360 ml)
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice (120 ml)
  • ¾ cup simple syrup (180 ml)
  • 2 cups sparkling water (480 ml)
  • Ice cubes (about 3 cups or 700 grams)
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Muddle the blackberries in a punch bowl or pitcher using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon for 2-3 minutes, releasing juices but keeping some berries whole.
  2. Add bourbon, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup to the muddled berries and stir gently for 1-2 minutes to combine.
  3. Cover and refrigerate the punch base for at least 1 hour, up to 3 hours, to let flavors meld.
  4. Just before serving, add chilled sparkling water and plenty of ice cubes to the punch.
  5. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs and lemon slices, and optionally float whole blackberries or use blackberry-frozen ice cubes.

Notes

Add ice just before serving to avoid watery punch. Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor. Adjust sweetness by tasting after mixing bourbon and lemon juice. For a smoother punch, strain muddled blackberries before chilling. Freeze blackberries inside ice cubes for a decorative and functional garnish. Can substitute frozen berries if fresh are unavailable. Non-alcoholic version possible by replacing bourbon with non-alcoholic whiskey alternative or extra sparkling water with cherry juice.
